Medical appeal process Empty Medical appeal process

Sun Jun 28, 2020 8:10 pm
JSP 950 states that “potential recruits are normally accepted only if completely meeting the standard for full deployability; candidates with a lesser grading will not normally be accepted, unless specific direction is received from the relevant Personnel or Executive Branch following medical advice.

Medical appeals are reviewed by single service medical examiners who will consider relevant evidence against service standards

If you fail to meet the medical standards for entry you will be advised on the procedure of submitting a medical appeal, if applicable. You will be informed in writing, email or via the recruitment portal detailing the specific reason for the decision.
Be aware a medical appeal must include relevant, professional and qualified medical evidence. Certain conditions can be appealed if they can be proven, with qualified supporting medical evidence, to have been misdiagnosed or treated incorrectly for example.

It is not possible to appeal against a medical decision before you have been formally informed you have not met the medical standards for entry. You must wait until you are informed in writing (email, recruitment portal or letter) on conclusion of the medical examination or medical triage stage.
The medical standards laid in JSP 950 cannot be appealed against. This means if a certain condition or treatment is listed as a ban to service and has ever occurred, then the circumstances unfortunately make the individual permanently medically unsuitable for service. It is imperative you follow the guidance you will be given in respect to an appeal.

Medical appeal process Empty Re: Medical appeal process

Just to add to the above all appeals that are sent end up with the Service Entry Medical Cell (SEMC) for review, they are the definitive arbitrator with regard appealing medical suitability. They are overworked and understaffed, so keep your appeal relevant and clearly outline the evidence.
